Civil Law and Human Rights Committee has been established under the Center for Rule of Law (CROL) for the protection of human rights and the promotion of rule of law in Nepal. The committee has been doing Advocacy Campaigns and generating awareness at the community level through training, workshop, and interaction programs. It has been conducting different types of activities in the field of human rights. The primary objective of the committee is to ensure human rights at different levels and strengthen rule of law in the country. It envisages a community where people would assert and enjoy all human rights, and thereby experience peace and prosperity.
Programs and Events:
Training for Trainers on ABC of the Rule of Law
The committee organized the Training of Trainers (ToT) session with an objective to advance and foster the law-abiding culture on the 3rd of October 2020, where around 15 law students from different universities of Nepal were provided with the training by highly esteemed professional, Dr. Narayan Ghimire. Some selective students could also be a part of our virtual outreach campaigns where they further provided the knowledge to the students of secondary and higher secondary levels.
Bio:
Ms. Ekata Paudel is currently the Coordinator at Civil Law and Human Rights Committee. Ms. Paudel completed her Bachelor of Laws (BA.LLB) from National Law College under Tribhuwan University. She also served as a fellow at the ‘2020 Coaching Program on International Human Rights Litigation’ delivered by the Human Rights and Justice Centre (the HRJC), Kathmandu with the support of TRIAL International, Geneva. Ekata has engaged herself in social projects aimed at protecting citizens and especially youth, women, and children. She has been paving her way for social improvement of the community as a volunteer, author of projects, and mainly as a community member. Her previous professional experience includes works in the area of Human Rights, mainly in the field of migrant workers. Also, Ms. Paudel has been involved in various sorts of research projects and has published several reports and journal articles on the area of International Human Rights. She has presented papers, participated in several conferences and competitions, and training nationally and internationally, in the area of human rights.
